Revenge "Destiny": AKA: Shit Just Got Real.

Sunday night was the premier episode of ABC's Revenge second season, "Destiny", and the Revenge PTB* wasted no time in plunging us back into the world of wealth, and treachery that we have all come to know and love.

Let's see where we left our little crew. Our darling Nolan was working out, just as any sensible person who got the snot kicked out of them as much as Nolan did last summer should. Emily is still reeling from the information that her mother may still be alive, and now even more so hellbent on getting her revenge. Ashley is climbing her way up the social ladder. Daniel is drinking again, so much for rehab. Fauxmanda is playing house with Jack, and Declan is coping. Conrad is...well not taking the death of his wife all that hard, oh and Victoria is dead...yeah right...

Oh Victoria, I knew we wouldn't be without you long, though I didn't expect to get you back quite so soon. Truth be told, I feel like the PTB could have kept her return under wraps a little longer, still it is nice to know that the reigning queen of mean is back in action. The real question now is HOW did she survive the plane crash? Was, as she told Emily, the FBI involved? Was it the company involved in the terrorist cover up? This raises serious questions about her motives last season. Was she ever really planning on turning Conrad in? Or could the plan have always been to fake her death and escape her marriage? Maybe she never really wanted to take Conrade down, maybe she just wanted out of the marriage. Last year the PTB played on our sympathies for Vikki. They painted her as a woman who was forced into making impossible choices. Choices that she has, or at least we lead to believe she has, always regretted. I admit I felt pangs of sympathy for her. She made deplorable mistakes, but the picture painted before us lead us to believe it was all done out of a mother's love, that she did what she did to protect her children. Which although not right, is at least understandable. Sunday's episode blew all sympathy for her out of the water, when she, while meeting with the white haired man, the man who murdered the supposed love of her life, ordered the death of Emily Thorn.

Can we talk about poor Charlotte for a mo-mo? She "lost" her mother, and her boyfriend and her father is faking her drug test results to keep her locked up. Not going to lie, for a hot second I thought it was Emily who had fiddled with her test results to get the false positive. I do believe however, that despite the fact that Emily is using Charlotte to get back in with the Graysons, that she does have a genuine affection for her. They are sisters after all, and the Graysons' actions have destroyed her life, just as they have destroyed Emily's. Remember how she thought her life was so hard at the beginning of  last summer, with her overbearing mother and cheating rich boy boyfriend? Bet she misses those days about now.

Speaking of her lost love...Declan. Once again, despite popular opinion, I am totally Team D/C. I think they are both good for each other, Declan grounds Charlotte and she makes him strive to be a better person. Think about it, until she came along Declan was contented just to sit around in Montauk, now he has plans to go to college, and somewhere between the summers, our little Declan Porter has become the voice of reason. This time around he's the one telling Jack it's time to wake up and be responsible, not just about the bar, but for his own happiness as well.

Then there's Jack, who is unhappy with how his life has turned out, and with good reason. He's still in love with Emily, after all even if he doesn't know it, she is his Amanda. I have to admit though, the longer her "I'm Emily Thorn" lie continues, the more I worry about how he is going to take it wen the truth is revealed to him. Especially since Emily has been so supportive of the Fauxmanda lie. I think he totally could have bought the "I can't reveal my true identity for my own protection" bit, but the allowing someone else to claim her real identity, and mess with his mind? Well, that pill is going to be harder to swallow. He has to be given credit for trying to be a good guy and "do the right thing" by "his" baby. However, Declan did make a great point, (Yeay Declan!) by bring up the fact that it really doesn't do the baby, or Fauxmanda, any good if he is miserable.

Let's talk Fauxmanda for a min shall we? I still hate her. Sorry, I want her gone. I find it cruel and unusual punishment that the PTB keep dangling her character's departure in front of us and then taking it away. Now we find out that Takeda has sent her back to the Hamptons on purpose, to be an ally to our Emily. Not sure how much I really buy that, Takeda already believes that Emily has gone soft, forget ally, if you ask me he sent Fauxmanda back as a spy. Someone to keep an eye on Emily. Now we know that she is actually pregnant, because we have been told that Jack has been accompanying her to her doctors visits, so we can rule out a faked pregnancy", but Emily and Jack are totally valid in their suspicion over the paternity of this baby. After all returning to the Hamptons because she is carrying Jack's baby is the perfect cover story. Seriously, who's gonna question that, without the knowledge of Fauxmanda's ulterior motive for returning? Jack never even questioned it until Emily suggested it.

Let's not forget the star pawn in Emily's game last year, Mr. Daniel Grayson. It is Daniel that I feel the worst for, for it is he who has unwillingly/unknowingly fallen the furthest. He started last season as a bright-eyed, idealistic Harvard boy. He had just finished rehab and wanted to make amends for his past transgressions. He was sweet, and trying to break away from his family, to start fresh, live a truth filled life. Then last season happened, and we got to slowly watched his "fall from grace". Cut to Daniel one year later. He's drinking again. A LOT. He seems bitter, and broken, more and more following in his father's footsteps. His idealism is a thing of the past. Sure, Emily broke his heart, after all she did kiss Jack while she was engaged to him, but let's not forget, he broke her heart too. I do believe that Emily truly did have feelings for Daniel, and that is why she was so hurt by his betrayal. I honestly believe that if he had gone public with the information about the cover up that he knew, Emily could have married him and been happy. Not completely happy, as she will always be in love with Jack, but happy enough.  Even his mother's "death" wasn't enough to shake him out of it, and he seems pretty hellbent on making Emily aware that he has not forgiven her. Sadly he has brought this upon himself.

I do think that Ashley feels a little bad about the way things have turned out. I am a bit annoyed with her for completely turning on Emily though. Emily was supposed to be her friend, granted I get that Emily herself isn't the greatest of friends, but Ashley brought her into the fold and then basically abandoned her. She willingly sold her "friend" out, first with Victoria, then Daniel, all in an attempt to climb the social ladder. Whether she feels remorse or not, her actions are not endearing her to anyone, characters and audience alike.

Then there's Emily. As she so perfectly put it "Things have certainly changed in a year, haven't they?" Seems her priorities have shifted slightly now that she knows her mother may be alive. She's more determined than ever to take down the Graysons and I for one, can not wait to see what she has planed. Also, quick sidebar, how FABULOUS did she look in that red dress?



Random Odds and Ends

Really Conrad? Paying someone to keep you own step daughter, who you swore you would never leave to, locked up? That is a new low even for you. And  I don't fully understand as to why he isn't more concerned about the burner phone hidden in her room. You would think he's want to find out who she has been talking too.


So we know that Victoria, somehow survived the explosion/crash, but what happened to Lydia? Did Victoria sacrifice her to get away, or is she too hiding out somewhere? What about all that evidence, does Victoria still have it?

I find it interesting that Emily's first glimpse of her "friend" Ashley at this year's Memorial Day celebration is VERY reminiscent of how she first saw Victoria at last year's event. This of course only fuels my Conrad/Victoria and Daniel/Ashley comparisons.

Nolan and Ems as roomies! BEST. THING. EVER. Seriously, I am so happy that this is happening, though I admit to being sad over the loss of Casa Nolan, this set up can only lead to more of the Emily/Nolan banter we all know and love. This does of course stir-up the brother/sister theories a bit. After all, why did David Clarke invest in Nolan's company, and furthermore, where did he get the money to do so?

And who is this Aiden guy, who seems to have history with our Emily? Apparently he's being set up as a new love interest for our leading lady. Seeing as I am Team Jack, I'm not entirely sure how I feel about bringing yet another new man to get between them. That being said, I have nothing but love for Barry Sloan and his gorgeous accent, so I'm willing to see how things shake out.

Next week looks epic,  I realize everyone is assuming that when Emily says she is going to take Victoria's "daughter away from her" it means that she is going to kill Charlotte, but I'm not so sure. As I said I do believe that Emily truly has feelings for Charlotte, after all she is almost as much a victim of the Graysons as Emily herself. "Taking her" from Victoria, doesn't necessarily mean killing her, all it means is turning Charlotte against Victoria for good. I'm really curious to find out just what Emily has in store for her little sister.

Revenge Returns: AKA: Get Ready

Ok, I admit it, I was having issues with Revenge since they decided it wasn't Daniel who lay dead on the beach that fateful night of the engagement party. I personally felt it was a total cop-out and that it insulted my intelligence. You can read all about my rant here if you missed it. I finished out the rest of the season, but with far less enthusiasm.

Then today I finally got the chance to watch not only the season recap, but the beginning of this season's premire, and suddenly I can  not wait for Sunday. I remember when I first read the script for the pilot I really enjoyed it, but couldn't help thinking that it would make a better movie than a show. I mean couldn't  really see how they could keep the premise of Revenge going for more than a season. Thank you Mike Kelly and your beautiful writers for, at least for the moment, proving me wrong.

Random Thoughts

1) Can we all agree that there is a 99.9% chance that Victoria is still alive? I mean come on if Lydia can survive that fall off a building, there's no way the Queen of Mean is going out like that. Plus she's in the promo pictures, and while you could argue that is for flashback purposes, I'm not buying it.

2) I LOVE Ashley Madekwe in real life. I think she is adorible, talented and sweet, plus her sense of style totally rocks my world. Check out her fashion blog here. That being said Ashley Davenport and I are fighting. I am so not ok with how she just dropped Emily. Is Emily the greatest of friends? No. However I feel like at some point in time Ashley decided to "get back at" Emily, for...I'm not even sure what exactly.

3) Daniel has become a giant ass. I mean I get that he has gone through a lot, and yes Emily did break his heart, but there is no excuse for his actions as of late. This from the man who proclaimed he NEVER wanted to be like his father, now he is like his "mini me". Speaking of mini, is anyone else thinking that he and Ashely are going to become mini Conrad and Victoria? Think about it, and ambitious girl from a working class family, becomes romantically involved with a wealthy powerful man who is growing colder every day. Look everyone, history DOES repeat itself!

4) Who else is hoping that the body on the sunken boat with the flannel sleeve is Fauxmanda? I know, I know the arm looks a little manly, and all the imagery we were given, the picture, the compass are supposed to allude to it being Jack's body, but come on. First of all, it wouldn't be unheard of for them to pull a bait and switch on us, we all thought it was Daniel's body on the beach right? Plus, Fauxmanda would TOTALLY wear flannel, if fact she has on more than one occasion flounced around in one of Jack's button down shirts. More importantly, though, she has GOT TO GO. This whole "Jack I'm having your baby" act is driving me nuts. I, for one, am questioning as to whether the baby is actually his. I mean she was a stripper after all, who worked in a club with a private room. Now I am not saying all strippers are whores/prostitutes, but come on, in this world, with that character? She was at rock bottom, I wouldn't put it past her to make some extra cash the "easy way"? Just saying.

5) I am also so not ok with the separation of Charlotte and Declan. I am aware it is an unpopular opinion, but I love them together. Also now that her family is in shambles, Charlotte needs Declan more than ever, even if she doesn't know/want to admit it.

So, are you ready to go back to The Hamptons? Revenge now airs on a new night and time. Watch for it Sundays at 9pm on ABC.

Revenge "Chaos": AKA: Seriously Guys? WTF?

Ok first off if you are not caught up on Revenge, GO! Do it now. I will wait.

Ok, now that you've returned let's all just take a moment for a brief collective WTF? Now I fully admit to adoring Josh Bowman an his portrayal is Daniel Grayson. I am quite happy that he still has a job, and will continue to make weekly appearances in my living room. However, the way they handled the shooting was SUCH a cop out! The Revenge Powers that Be need to take a lesson from Joss Whedon here, some times even beloved characters need to die to further a story. Daniel was supposed to die, and when the pilot was originally written he did. He was supposed to be further collateral damage for Emily, both of the men she loved would have then experience escalating violence in direct result of her actions. I don't care hell bent on revenge you are, that's enough to give anyone pause.

Now instead we have Daniel, with conveniently no memory of all of what Tyler revealed about his fiance, and most likely going to be charged with Tyler's murder. Which, let's be honest, isn't really a nail bitter, combine Tyler's off his meds performance from a few weeks ago when pulled a gun on all who were present at Daniel's birthday dinner, and the Grayson name and well his self defense plea basically writes itself.

Furthermore it pisses me off that BOTH Charlotte AND Victoria are freaking out about the body being Daniel and then they roll him over and it's just Tyler. First off, they are not THAT similar looking. Tyler is shorter, his face is fuller, his shoulders are broader and his got a little more mass on his body than our darling Daniel. While, I'm willing to accept that those slight differences are something a casual observer/acquaintance may not have noticed, you mean to tell me that his sister AND his mother, both of whom at one point were hovering over and/or clutching the body in hysterics didn't?

You can argue they were distraught, and not thinking clearly enough to notice those small details, but then why did Charlotte ever think it was Daniel in the first place? Victoria, maybe, because Charlotte came screaming that Daniel was shot, and she hadn't been able to find him for a while, but Charlotte? Why would she just assume the dead body belonged to her brother?  Not to mention all the now untapped potential that Daniel's death would have had on Charlotte. Seeing as she wants nothing to with her mother and having just found out that the man she called daddy her whole life isn't her actual father, Daniel was the only real family she has left. If you think she's on a downward spiral now, just imagine how much worse it could have been had "The Powers That Be" stuck to the original plan, pure devastation.

And what about our beloved Queen Victoria? Think of how Daniel's death would have shattered her, don't forget she sent the man she loved to jail and ultimately his untimely death, largely in order to protect Daniel, to loose him too would have made all her efforts pointless. She would have lost the only two men she truly loved.

I have to admit I am truly disappointed with this turn of events. It seems like such a cop out, especially because it means that they have abandoned whatever plan they had set out at the beginning of the show. From the very beginning it was supposed to be Daniel that was shot, and now that they have seen how much the fans love him, they have decided to take the safe route and keep him around. While the episode itself was amazingly suspenseful and well written, in the grand scheme of things, it changes nothing. Tyler was already gone, and side bar, how did he escape from where ever he was carted off to anyway? His death really doesn't change anything except for the fact that now he will not be able to return later in the series to create havoc, oh Tyler, I had such great plans for your return, and now, they are gone. Also you want me to believe that Daniel now knows all about Emily's plan for revenge, but has conveniently forgotten it? We're getting a little too soapy here, and besides didn't we already go through the whole memory loss thing with Lydia? It seems a little soon to bring that back, don't you think?

So yes, Revenge, I do still love you and I will continue to watch, however you have, at least in this instance, greatly disappointed me. I am curious to see how you work your way out of this one.

Top Five: Shows of Last Pilot Season...Sorta

Well we are in the thick of pilot season now, which accounts for my lack of updates, sorry guys.

As I wade through scripts for countless doctor/lawyer shows and the inevitable copycat shows, already looks like there is a "new" American Horror Story and a "new" Homeland, I am reminded of what the last pilot season had to offer. So I've decided to do a Top Five of my favorite shows to come out of last pilot season. Here they are in no particular order:

1) Revenge - Ok, I admit it, when I first heard about the show I really didn't understand how they were going to make this premise work as a weekly show. As a movie or mini series sure, but I couldn't see how they could continue out this story week after week without it going stale. I am beyond pleased to say how wrong I was. Revenge has become one of my favorite shows, you know one of those shows you just devour. The cast is amazing, I don't even have words to describe how amazingly talented I find Madeline Stowe. It's a show that I look forward to week after week.

2) American Horror Story - I have mixed feelings about this show, but for reasons that will soon be explained, feel it had to be included in the Top Five. The show wasn't as terrifying as I had initially been lead to believe it would be. The first episode I unnecessarily forced The Boy's Brother, who is our other roommate and 6'5 to watch with me in case I freaked. Was the show creepy? Yes. Disturbing? Often. Terrifying? Not really, well except for the underutilized "infantada". That thing was the stuff of nightmares. But I digress, despite being littered with plot bunnies, often time confusing/frustrating, American Horror Story did do one thing I loved. It got people talking, discussing, theorizing. I'm a big fan of shows that get you thinking. While it was airing, Thursdays, and Fridays too for those of us who would DVR it, meant that the office was a buzz with conversation about that week's episode.

3) Hart of Dixie - I grew up in what I like to reffer to as the "Glory Days of the WB". It was the station to watch, they had Buffy, Angel, 7th Heaven (when it was still good), Dawson's Creek, the short lived Young Americans (which had Ian Somerhalder) and Dead Last (which had Tyler Labine). Side bar if anyone remembers those last two shows we need to be friends. Anyway Hart of Dixie brings the CW back to the WB hay day, with it's cute, feel good vibe and really, it's hard not to love a show that has Scott Porter and a very often shirtless Wilson Bethel.

4) The Finder - So I know we have just recently gotten a taste of this new show but as a fan of Bones since the beginning I felt it had to be given a spot. The show, although still finding it's legs,  has made some positive changes since the backdoor pilot during an episode of Bones last year. Saffron Burrows Ike is no more, replaced, without any mention, with Mercedes Masohn's Deputy U.S. Marshal Isabel Zambada and Maddie Hasson's Willa Monday. Throw in the riddiculously awesome guest stars, Brett Davern (Awkward), John Francis Daley (Bones), Wilson Cruz (My So Called Life), my random adoration Ian Reed Kesler (guest star on EVERYTHING), with Geoff Stults and Michal Clarke Duncan and you got some serious gold.


Okay, okay so after mulling this over for two days I have only come up with four. Sure, there were other shows I like that came out of last years pilot season, The New Girl, Once Upon a Time,  2 Broke Girls, Person of Interest, but they haven't made it to my MUST view lists. Then of course there is Alcatraz, and Touch, which haven't been on long enough for me to officially proclaim them, and factor in the scores of shows I am still DYING to see, Awake (can we just please get that on the air ASAP), Apt 23, The River top that list, by the way. So there you have it my Top Four pilots of last year.

Revenge "Infamy": AKA: Return of the Weekly Take Down

First of all, yeay for a good old fashion take down. I mean it's fabulous that they have strayed from the "take down of the week" format of the first few episodes in order to go for some more complex plot lines, but I have to admit I was glad for the throw back.

 So this week Emily is pitted up against Leo/Mason, does anyone use there real name on this show, Tredwell, played by the awesomely talented Roger Bart, the author of a book which basically confirmed her father's guilt. side note, while most of you know who Roger Bart is from his turn as George Williams on Wysteria Lane, I personally fell in love with him when he portrayed Snoopy in the 1999 Broadway revival of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. So he will forever be Snoopy to me, though his Revenge wardrobe was more reminiscent of his costumes in the 1995 Broadway revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying  where he played Bud Frump, and wore a lot of bow ties.

But I digress, anyway so Mason is back in town writing his memoirs and by the invitation of the Queen of the Hamptons herself, Ms. Victoria Grayson, who of course has her own motives for his visit. Our darling Emily uses this golden opportunity to not only get back at Mason, but lay the groundwork in getting rid of the little Amanda Clarke problem. Which could NOT happen soon enough.

Am I the only one who can not stand her? I mean if she was such a great friend to Emily, which she claims to be, then how could she keep  listening to the things Jack says about his love for Amanda and not tell Emily about it, or at the very least feel guilty? Nope, all she does is feel jealousy. She is under the belief that there is something going on with Emily and Jack, even though Emily has only ever, at least publicly, expressed interest in Daniel. Her Coyote Ugly shenanigans did nothing to endear her to me either, if anything it made me feel bad for Jack. Poor Jack, seriously if him and Emily do not end up together, at some point, there is no justice.

Another reason I dislike Amanda so strongly is I feel as though her dating/living with the Porters, keeps Nolan at bay.  Some of my favorite moments on Revenge are when Nolan gets to hang out with the Porter boys. Seriously, especially after finding out that Nolan did fall for Tyler's games, I feel more and more that he could use a friend.  An actual friend, you know not Emily. 

So Emily uses Nolan, yet again, to bait Mason into thinking that he wanted Nolan wants him to write his biography for him. Of course the idea of writing a multimillionaire's  biography is too good to resisit and so while Nolan takes Mason out to dinner to disscuss terms, Emily pays his cottage a visit.  Where Mason stores all his tapes of his David Clarke interviews and the ONLY copy of his manuscript, after stealing the tapes for herself, Emily uses Amanda's lighter, which she made sure Mason saw her using, to light a cigarette and burn the cottage, manuscript and all to the ground.

 So on to the big reveal of the episode, which, not to brag but I called exactly two months to the day, don't believe me check it out here . Charlotte is Emily's half sister! Which makes perfect sense, it explains why dispite the rift between them that Victoria so desperately wants custudy of her daughter. She is a reminder of her lost love. I do believe that Victoria loved David Clarke, and that her going along with the plot against him was purely an attempt to keep her son. Think about it, if Conrad was capable of not only financing terrorism but setting up a trusted employee as his fall guy, who knows what else he could be capable of? Further more, Daniel seems to have, at least now that he have reformed, turned into a pretty decent human being, imagine how he would have turned out if he'd been raised solely by Conrad. I am in no way saying that I condone her actions, but I may understand them, at least a little.


The major questions now are, who was shot on the beach, and who did the shooting? I fully believe that when the pilot was written the writers had every intention of the victim being Daniel. However, as evidenced before, with the Tyler storyline, the writers are ever evolving their plots. I would be surprised if they some home made is so it wasn't Daniel out on the beach, despite having both Charlotte and Victoria screaming on the beach during the discovery.

As for the shooter, while it still could be Tyler, depending on whether or not he can escape police custudy, and Amanda, in all her jealousy is also a good suspect, but I would like to add one or two more people to the suspect pool.

Satoshi Takeda - Emily's Japanese mentor. He seemed none too pleased with Emily's budding feelings for Daniel. What better way to get her  back on track then to kill off her biggest distraction?

Conrad Grayson - I know, I know, he's Daniel's father, but he's not the most upstanding citizen. Let's face it Daniel has already declaired his alliance to Victoria. If he goes through with the marriage Victoria will own a majority of the company. Do you really think Conrad will go down with out a fight?


Last week they filmed Fire and Ice, the episode where were are finally given some answers. I can not wait to see where they are headed.

Revenge "Duress": AKA: Tyler the Bad Ass

So in prep for tonight's Revenge let's take a moment to discuss last week's explosive episode.

We finally got what we all, or at least I, have been waiting for since that very first episode he showed up, Tyler's EPIC meltdown. Major props need to go out to Ashton Holmes by the way for creating a character I almost loved to hate. I love Ashton Holmes and so for him to be able to make me have a vehemenet hatred of one of his roles is a testament to his insane talent. I really hope to see him on my tv again soon.

 His psychotic break couldn't have worked out better for Emily though, it gave her the perfect opportunity to close ip loose ends on the Frank murder. Sure she'd layed the ground work to frame Victoria/Conrad but let's face it Tyler makes a far better patsy, especially after his preformace at Daniel's birthday. Seriously the guy is a dangerous sociopath who's been off his meds, even if he denies it, who's going to believe anything he says?

Though a major plot bunny that was driving me crazy was, were was Nolan's security guy? I realize he got him because of Frank's attack, and now that Frank is dead he may have no longer seen a need for him, but I was pretty sure the guy was around for awhile after Frank's death. So why wasn't he there when Tyler went all stabby on Nolan? Poor Nolan, the whole Revenge plot is Emily's grand plan and yet while her consiquence seems to be that she gets to sleep with the yummy Daniel Grayson, Nolan gets the crap beaten out of him on several occasions. Not cool.

Also I am dissapointed that the had Nolan admit to of haven "fallen" for Tyler, as opposed to have just slept with him to blackmail him later, which is truely a testiment to just how lonely he is. The one good thing to come of this whole mess however, seems to be the fact that Ashley and Nolan seemed to bond, for at least a moment, over their awful taste in men. I really hope they end up becoming friends, because let's face it, they could both use some. Currently their only friends seem to be Emily, and well, she's not the greatest at relationships.

I guess it was nice to see that Emily has actually fallen for Daniel, though I admit I was a little surprised/annoyed by, at least how it appears in the preview, that Daniel decides to propose in order to gain access to his trust fund...Seriously Daniel...I thought better of you.

It wouldn't be a full discussion if I didn't mention my intense dislike of Fauxmanda and her trapping of Jack. Seriously, it kills me a little inside that  Emily never gets to hear the things that Jack thinks he is telling her. He's been waiting for her practically his whole life, it's so sweet and endearing, the fact that Fauxmanda is exploiting it make me sick. Ok, maybe that's a bit much but still. It's no wonder she seems so jealous of Emily talking to Jack, after all even though he doesn't know it, all those sweet words were meant for her. I can not wait to see how Emily takes her down.

It's the Most Wonderful TIme of the Year

Sorry for being MIA lately, my fabulous brother was doing some updates on my new laptop, and as I was off from work I was sans a way of updating. Plus the holidays are always a busy time. The Boy can attest to the fact that the entire month of December, our kitchen turns into a bakery.

It was a very pop culture Christmas this year, thanks to some brilliantly crafty and slightly sneaky friends. Major props go to my friend Leslie who not only cross stiched the entire Firefly cast (four times no less), but also managed to somehow sneak away at NYCC to get the lovely Jewel Staite  sign & personalize them.

Seriously how clutch is that?

Anyways, I've decided that this post, which will probibly be my last of 2011, is the perfect time for a Best Of list, are you guys tired of them yet? So here are some of my favorite pop culture things of 2011.

• Awkward - This was by far my favorite new show of the year. I knew the moment I read the pilot that I was going to like the show, despite it being on MTV. After the first episode I was hooked, even in all it's insanity, the show is still so real. It brings me back to when I was in high school, but in the good way. I am so excited that a second season is on the way and I can't wait to see where the characters are headed.

• The Resurgence of Mark Paul Gosslaar - 2011 saw the resurgence of one of my favorite childhood actors. I practically jumped for joy when I learned that Mark Paul Gosslaar and Breckin Meyers were doing a show together. I mean seriously what more could a girl raised on Saved By the Bell and Clueless want? The show itself is hysterical, better than I had expected. But things got even better, with both the TNT tv movie Hide, and ABC Family's 12 Dates of Christmas, it felt as though MPG was EVERYWHERE and that just made life better.

• Teemagnet.com - This has to be my new favorite website. Seriously all the best geeky tshirts on display. It's my homepage...it is why I am poor.

• Revenge - I fully admit to not really knowing how the show was going to work, I mean it sounded more like an awesome movie than a tv show, but after watching the first three eps I was hooked. I'm not generally a fan of "soapy" shows but Revenge is pure, gooey, guilty pleasure tv. Madeline Stowe is amazing and Ashley Madekwe is my fashion icon.

• Ring My Bell - Speaking of the lovely Ashley Madekwe, her fashion blog, Ring My Bell is my  newest obsession. This woman is fashion icon, she has a fabulous sense of style and is an all around amazing person. 

• The Return of the Muppets -  2011 also saw the return of the Muppets to the lime light, and I couldn't be more excited about it. Having always been a Muppet fan the fact that they were getting a new movie made me giddy, add in the fact that Jason Segel wrote and stared in it and I was in HEAVEN.  

• Pop Culture Art - So one of the greatest things about going to NYCC this year was getting to go through artist alley and seeing all the amazing pop culture inspired prints. Some of my favorites include, Katie Cook, Brian Kong, Scott Ethan Ambruson and Laurie B.

• American Horror Story - One of the most frustrating/thought provoking shows which I was sucked into this year. While not as scary as I had initially thought, it definitely kept me on my toes, and filled with emotions and tons of questions. While I didn't always love what went on with the story lines, and more often than not screamed in frustration over loose ends, but it was still a wild ride.

Revenge "Suspicion": AKA: When the Shit Begins to Hit the Fan...

I've said it a thousand times, I am not a soapy show fan, but Revenge just too good to leave. The holidays put a bit of a delay on my tv watching and I finally got around to watching my favorite guilty pleasure. By the way, I've come to the sad conclusion that all the shows I have adored in the past few months are classified as "guilty pleasures".

So Kira, or Fauxmanda, as our darling Nolan so fittingly called her, has decided that she not only doesn't want to leave, she wants to BE Amanda Clarke, and get all the handsome, bartender perks that come with the identity, namely Jack Porter. Oh Jack, I understand why you may have fallen for Fauxmanda's lies, but please snap out of it. Sorry to Margarita Levieva, but I have formed a deep seeded hatred for Fauxmanda. I know, I know the poor, troubled girl just wants to settle down and have a life, but seriously, there are far better lives to have than that of a wrongfully accused, terrorist's daughter. Sure, Jack is definitely a catch, but he's meant to be with Emily. So back off bitch. Plus she is mean to Nolan, and I am not a fan of anyone who is mean to Nolan.

Speaking of people being not so nice to Nolan, the monstrosity that is Tyler once again rears his twisted little head to cause trouble. Honestly, I can not stand Tyler, he makes me want to punch things. Which is just a testament to the awesome acting ability of Ashton Holmes. Remember when he was Mark on the Rent tour and we all wanted to cuddle him?

Tyler has apparently stolen our sweet Nolan's credit card, which he is rationing as payment for services rendered. I guess this means he fancies himself a hooker then? On the heterosexual side, he did use it to buy Ashley a killer black dress for the future investors party. I'm sorry, as much as dear little Ashton may claim in interviews that Tyler does have feelings for Ashley, I don't buy it. Boy is way to calculated for that, too Dexter-ish, if you ask me.

As things are starting to spin out of control, Emily calls upon her Asian Guru of revenge. Um, how many "mentors" does this girl have? The cops find Frank's phone outside the Grayson house, and decided to build a case against Conrad.

Lydia who is now wise to Victoria's previous feelings of hatred towards her, has Conrad relocate her from the Grayson's summer home to... somewhere else, we never actually do learn where.


Back to Tyler, who Nolan has been ordered by Emily to "take care of". Nolan calls Tyler over, and despite Tyler's coy advances, Nolan say he wants the cash back, instead. Go Nolan! Proof the boy was only using Tyler and not that he had been seduced. [Insert happy dance here]. Tyler tells Nolan to invest in Grayson Global at the party so that he can get the commission, then he'll pay him back. Nolan turns him down and leaves, but not before turning on trusty little shamu.

Side bar, seriously where can I get one of these little whale cameras? How freaking awesome is that thing? Plus it's come in handy more than a few times now. It is because of this handy little device, Nolan learns that Tyler has come into possession of Lydia's banquet speech, which reveals that the Grayson's framed David Clarke.

To put a tighter leash on the boy, Nolan goes to the inverster's party and tells The Talented Mr. Hamptons he'll invest if he gives him a little incentive. Of course, Tyler obliges, reaching a hand to caress Nolan's face and indulge him in a kiss, when a glass shatters on the floor the boys turn to find an understandably horrified Ashley, who then runs out. Tyler runs after her and attempts to explain, saying he was only doing "what was necessary" to get what he needed. He then goes on to tell her she needs to man up and "get in the game".

There is just SO MUCH WRONG here, I can't take it. I know, this is a sudsy drama, so clearly Ashley is going to buy the load of crap Tyler is spoon feeding her, but come on. First off, from the sight she walked on Tyler was clearly the aggressor. Even if you are willing to buy that she couldn't have seen or known that, then fine, how about the fact that your boyfriend was kissing some one else? For those of you saying, yes but for all she knows it was just a kiss, it's not like they are engaged. Ok, but the man admitted he is willing to do ANYTHING to get what he wants. Where's the line? There has to a line! Would he murder someone to get what he wants? There is such a thing as too driven.

Also, despite several times having provided commentary on how cut throat and mean her employers and company seem to be, sweet little  Ashley seems more than willing to throw her friend Emily, who, if I may remind you SHE introduced into this whole Hamptons circle of wickedness and deciete, under the bus in order to gain ground with. Note, how after making plans to discuss Emily with Victoria over brunch the next morning, she addressed her employer by her first name for the first time. Ashley's getting a little ballsy. Unfortunately, in this show, that can't be a good thing.

But lets end on a happy note, Charlotte and Declan. Love them. Just do. Although, side bar, Charlotte's text of "2nite's the nite!" seemed a little cliched. Regardless, they adorable together, hell even their plotting against Victoria, is somehow quite sweet. I mean come on, we all knew Declan wouldn't give her up for any amount, despite lack of funds, the Porter boys are just hopeless romantics. It's nice to see at least one romance going well in this verse...at least for now.

Revenge: "Treachery" : AKA: The Plot Thickens

 After watching this week's episode I have finally figured out my team situation. We know Daniel is gonna die, which absolutely pains me, but they pretty much showed us that in the pilot, so for now Emily can totally be with him. When he is no longer around then she can be comforted by Jack. Tada problem solved Team Both forever!

But back to the issues at hand, it appears Amanda, or rather Kira now, will not just go quietly into the night. She's gonna be sticking around for a while, and from the look of previews for next week make in the moves on Jack. I am SO not ok with that. She murdered someone! While our Emily is no saint herself, she's never, at least to our knowledge, killed anyone. She's more of a life ruiner than a murder. Plus, Kira seems move than a little obsessed with Emily. It's a little too Talented Mr. Ripley, for my taste. As I mentioned before I HATE that movie, and would appreciate it if the writers would stop drawing from it, ok thanks.

 Jack and Nolan made up, which makes me giddy. Nolan having friends makes me happy, plus I think some of my favorite scenes involve the camaraderie between Nolan, Jack and Declan. They have such great chemistry together. Also, I want to be a part of the Porter family, marrying would be best option, but honestly I would totally settle for being their sister.

Speaking of Declan, I'm still in love with him and Charlotte being together. He's just so sweet to her. The was so adorably nervous about making every thing perfect for their date, assuring her there was no pressure with him when she came in looking upset. Then the way he put his arm around her and kissed the top of her head to comfort her while she was freaking out about her dad moving out warmed my heart. Seriously, I was a bit mushy over that scene.

As for the Grayson family troubles, I found it interesting that when Conrad was comforting Charlotte about him moving out he told her, she could get through this because "You are a Grayson". Seems a strange thing to say, and I am chalking it up as groundwork to make it even more shocking when they reveal the Charlotte is Victoria's love child with David Clarke. I know, I know it may just be me projecting, but come on, you know it would be an awesome kink in the story.

Lydia is awake and Victoria has her recouping in the Grayson summer home, she apparently doesn't remember anything leading up to her fall, which is lucky news for our Emily, and Victoria as well.

Side bar, I am completely OBSESSED with Victoria's red dress in this episode. It was amazing, I want it!

Then of course in classic soap opera style she over hears Victoria and Conrad arguing about their involvements in her accident. Oh Revenge, just when I forget you are a soap, you always find a way to remind me.

Tyler has some what successfully attempted to poison Ashley against Emily. Um, hello where did that come from? Ashley, are you so blinded by a pretty, yet psychopathic, boy that you would agree with nasty remarks about one of your best friends? Forgive me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Ashley the one who introduced Emily to the Graysons? And, at least as far as Ashley knows, hasn't Emily always been a good supportive friend to her? I don't know about any of you, but while I may not dump a guy just because my friend may not like him, I would most certainly not allow him to make nasty remarks about them to me. Chicks before dicks, Ashley, chicks before dicks.

Queen Victoria: AKA: Revenge's Awsome Matriarch

It would be so be so easy to hate Victoria Grayson. After all the reigning Queen of the Hamptons seems to have it all, the big house, adoration of many, oh and a wardrobe I would KILL for. More importantly though, she is out to foil our dear sweet Emily. Ok, so maybe our little hell bent on revenge Emily isn't so sweet, but still, we love her. Victoria has done everything in her power to protect her beloved son Daniel.

In fact he was the reason she seems to have gone along with the framing of her beloved David Clarke in the first place. In the flashbacks of the time during and around his trial that we are privy to, every time Victoria tries to come clean her son, and her ability to be with him is threatened.

It would be so easy to paint Victoria Grayson, as an evil monarch. Even the imagery in the pilot, where she calls Emily, while watching her from her own balcony seems to recall evil fairy tale queens. She is able to take down her opponents in a single icy comment. At the Memorial day charity party on the yacht, Victoria made it perfectly clear she was not a woman to be trifled with when she banished Lydia upon learning of her affair with Conrad.

Which is why I find it very interesting that, at least thus far the only other person who's flashbacks we are show, are Victoria. The flashbacks make a point of showing how much she truly loved Amanda/Emily's father and her fear and guilt over what they had done to him. In fact it has gotten to the point where now, several episodes in, when it seems her entire family has turned against her, that I actually feel sorry for her.

Did she make the best choices? Hardly, but she did it out of fear, and the love for her child, which are both very powerful emotions, which Madeleine Stowe conveys beautifully. I honestly can't wait to see how her character will continue to develop.


Revenge surprises me each new episode, whether it be a new plot twist, or discovering that I care about a character I never thought I would, which is a testament to both the talented actors and amazing writers. I am so happy that I decided to watch this show despite my initial reaction to the pilot.

Revenge: AKA: Catching Up and Sorting Out

I know I saw this every time I talk about the show, but seriously, this is my new obsession. I'm not really one for soapy shows, and let's be honest, at it's core that is what Revenge is, but somehow the show is done with a fresh twist that doesn't make it feel that way.

A LOT has gone down since I last discussed the goings on out in the Hamptons. First off, let's take a mo-mo to talk about Fourth of July. Jack's confession. It was beautiful, honest and I my heart honestly ached for him when Emily turned him down. It's a really difficult thing to lay your heart on the line like that, terrifying even. We do it because the potential rewards are so amazing. However, the blow back from rejection can be devastating.

Poor Jack. Naturally he gets pissed at Nolan for making him believe he even had a shot with Emily, and once again our poor little Nolan is friendless.

Charlotte and Victoria are still fighting. Which is understandable, I mean if my mother told the world, however inadvertently it was, that she wished I was never born I too would be pissed. There's a mini power struggle between the two, Victoria is willing to do almost anything to have Charlotte forgive her, including doing giving her the ridiculously expensive car Conrad bought for her as an apology for being a bastard. Charlotte is meanwhile, growing closer with Declan and occasionally using that relationship to piss off her mom.

Sidebar, I love that coupling. Mostly because I don't have to think about. I like them together. I don't have to weigh the merits of which boy is better for Charlotte there's just Declan, and he's perfect for her.

I think my biggest problem with Revenge is it is the first show/movie/book where I have not been able to pick a side in a love triangle. I like both Jack and Daniel and feel they both would be good for her. Not at the same time, but both guys have their pros and cons, and both are delicious looking...hell the whole cast is..if you haven't seen the Revenge bloody pillow fight shoot done by Tyler Sheilds yet, then see it here You're welcome.

Emily finally sleeps with Daniel, after by far one of the worst lines I have ever heard, "Right now, all I'm serious about is taking you to the bedroom." Personally I would have laughed in his face, but Emily is more focused then I, or perhaps I too, could have overlooked the cheesiness of it if I were staring into those gorgeous eyes.

Lydia causes quite a stir, threatening to reveal the truth about David Clarke, at a benefit in the Grayson's honor, unless Victoria, welcomes her "back into the fold" with open arms. Does anyone else think its not a good idea to threaten people capable of things such as a major terrorist involvement cover up? Then again, maybe she felt she had nothing to loose.  To keep her quiet on their involvement, Victoria "forgives" Lydia. However after her speech, Victoria draws the line and tells her, "Understand something, Lydia. Every time I smile at you across a room, or we run into each other at a luncheon or I welcome you into my home, let that smile be a reminder of just how much I despise you. And that every time I hug you, the warmth you feel is my hatred burning through you", which is bar far the best "F* You" speech I have ever heard.

Anyway, as all this is going down, Lydia stumbles upon a path to discovering Emily's plans. Which clearly delights her since she has made it her mission to get Emily out of her house.  Lucky for Emily, she's set up accidental surveillance on Lydia and Nolan is able to discover her plan before she can set it into motion. Oh, and in his own protective way Frank throws her off her roof, in perhaps one of the worst shot scenes in the serious. So ridiculously fake looking. No worries though, she's not dead just in a coma, apparently the cab she landed on, "broke her fall".

Frank creeps the hell out of me, that man totally has a way too creepy affection for Victoria. I seriously thought he may try to rape her when he surprised her late night in the kitchen after he'd been "let go". Again no one seems to be thinking clearly, you really shouldn't fire a man who a) can ruin you and b) you know is capable of murder. Frank, of course, discovers it was Nolan who sent to footage of what actually happened in Lydia's apartment that night to Conrad, and beats the crap out of him. I think it should be acknowledged that Nolan took the beating like a champ. His sarcastic retorts, proves as a kid he more than likely had more than his fair share of beat downs.

Understandably, Nolan is freaked, he hires a body guard and tells Emily he'd like a less hands on role in all of this. That is until Emily asks him to "take care of" Tyler, while she deals with Frank.

Oh Tyler. I never liked him, but now he makes my skin crawl. He's storyline has become WAY too Talented Mr. Ripley for my liking. For the record, I HATED that movie, mostly because the guy I watched it with in college, who I was seeing at the time, actually believed that all homosexual men were like Tom Ripley. It was after watching that movie that I knew we'd never work out, though the fact that he was a conservative Republican probably should have tipped me off sooner.

But I digress, Tyler, as we learn is a gay hustler, who, when confronted by Nolan about it, decides his best coarse of action is to seduce our beloved geek. Oh, Nolan hunny, you can do so much better.  To be honest though, I was more disappointed with ABC then Nolan's poor choice of partner. They cut away right before the two men kissed, you know if this were a heterosexual couple we would have gotten to see a kiss, at the very least. Our we really still, as a country, so homophobic that one little same sex kiss would cause an uproar? If the answer is yes, well then I am deeply saddened by the state of our country.

Nolan, being the resourceful little scamp that he is ,videos their "encounter", I'm assuming to save for a rainy day. Which makes me wonder if Nolan just has thousands of mini consoled cameras around his home.

In an attempt to cover her track Emily calls upon "The Warden" of what I can only assume is the Juvie Center where Emanda was when she was younger. The warden complains that she thought she "taught" Emily better. Ok what? So who is this warden and why did/is she helping our lovely lady?

The warden does her best to squash Frank's investigation, however he presses on and discovers a file on the REAL Emily Thorn, who is a stripper who now goes by the name Amanda Clarke...and the plot thickens. However, before Frank is able to tell Victoria, the stripper murders him by tire iron, before showing up on our dear Emily's door step. Uh oh.

So now that we have managed to rehash a fraction of what has been going on in the last three weeks, it is time to theorize.

The Warden
Who is she really? Why is she helping Emily? It is possible that she's someone Emily has payed off? Or is there more to it? Does the warden know the truth about what was done to Amanda/Emily and her father? Did she have a relative on that doomed airplane? Does she have a grudge against the Graysons for another reason? And further more why didn't the warden take more precautions against Frank breaking in?

Charlotte
So basically in all the flash backs the only child of Victoria's ever mentioned is Daniel, which makes sense because of Charlotte's age. While it is clear that Victoria does love her daughter, there is something that holds her back, and why she would ever say that she never should have had her. My theory on that would be that Charlotte is Emily's half sister. It makes sense when you think about it, Victoria was sleeping with David and Charlotte is about the right age for that. Plus what better reason for Victoria's aversion to her daughter than the fact that she is a constant reminder of the man she loved and betrayed?

Who Killed Daniel?
 I am just as sad as anyone, in knowing as it is shown in the pilot episode, Daniel is Shot, and presumably killed, at the engagement party. Right now, my money's on Tyler. I know, I know, it's such the obvious choice, but, let's face it we never saw where he was at the party that night. Frank's dead, otherwise I'd say it could be some sort of twisted revenge against the Graysons on his part. I know they'll set it up to look like it was Jack, but we all know that no matter how jealous he maybe Jack would never do anything that would hurt Emily.

I'm Still Here...and I've got Theories

I haven't completely dropped off the face of the earth, however between working on NaNoWriMo and the fact that I was lacking power for almost a FULL WEEK, I'm a little behind on on my television. I am working on catching up but it's a slow process.

But I have a TON of theories on some of my favorite shows...so be prepared for the flood gates to open and a wealth of theories and observations to come bursting through....

Revenge: AKA: Meddling Friends

So, I can now officially say I'm in love with ABC's Revenge. I realized this while I sat down to watch last week's episode and actually had strong opinions about the characters.

Let's start with Nolan, sweet Nolan, I adore him so. Seriously, I get that Emily is pissed about him meddling in her life, but honestly, he's trying to act in her best interest, and he's lonely. He doesn't have any friends, and I think that's why he is trying to get Emily and Jack together. I think he somewhere deep down believe that they are supposed to be together, and as much as he enjoys her whole plot of revenge, he knows that all her father really wanted was for her to forgive and be happy. I definitely wouldn't put it past him to have read the journal her father left her. Plus, I think he figures that if he gets them together, they will be grateful and become his friends. Maybe I'm giving him too much credit, still I like him.

On to a meddling friend I don't like, Tyler Barrel, Daniel's jerk of a college roommate. Can we say slime bag? Not only does he cause Daniel to stand Emily up, but he also steals his phone, deletes her calls and gets the recovering alcoholic wasty-face. Yeah, that's a great friend right there. Clearly, Tyler has sort of agenda here, as to what that is? Well, your guess is as good as mine.

I feel bad for Daniel, everyone in his life seems out to manipulate him, Emily, Tyler, even his own mother, and we all recall what happens to him at the end of the summer. What makes it even worse, though there is still plenty of time to change, is that in the Hamptons world of deceit and corruption, he actually seems like a decent guy. He's made some bad decisions in life and is trying to turn his life around and make amends. Unfortunately, it appears no one in his life is willing to let him do that. I can get behind Emily torturing those who destroyed her life, but Daniel had nothing to do with it. It just seems cruel and unfair.

I can't wait until this weeks episode to see how much further Tyler will go to keep Emily and Daniel apart, maybe even find out why, and Nolan's next move in his get-Jack-and-Emily-together plan.

Week Four: AKA: Making Decisions

So we're into week four of the fall tv season, and decisions are being made. I've gone through several weeks of new shows and am starting to make my decisions onto which shows I am going to make the commitment to. So far here are my updated verdicts:

Sundays

Homeland (10pm Showtime)
Ok, so I've only gotten my hands on the pilot, but as I've said before I ADORE Mandy Patinkin and as I think the concept an amazing new take on a familiar fear. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more.

Pan Am (10pm ABC)
I wasn't sure I was going to continue watching this show after the pilot, but three episodes later and I find myself looking forward to each new episode. I adore Captain Dean (AKA: Mike Vogal, who will always be Dean from Grounded For Life to me), and Kate Jennings Grant has a recurring as role as Judith Cameron, Laura and Kate's mother. She just flat out rocks, and she is way prettier then they make her up to be.

Mondays

Terra Nova (8pm Fox)
I am well aware I need to be watching this show, and fully admit to it being my fault that I have yet to catch up. However due to my due to my commute anything airing before 10pm is a gamble on whether or not I make it home to watch.

Hart of Dixie (9pm CW)
It's a cute show, and three weeks in and I am still entertained. Is it a thought provoking master piece? Hardly, but it's sweet and a good way to the hour before Castle.

Playboy Club (10pm NBC)
Well the decision was made FOR me here. It wasn't the best show I had ever seen, but it was interesting enough. I was really looking forward to seeing where the storyline between Sean and Bunny Alice was headed. Homosexuality in the 1960's is not something we, the viewers, have been readily exposed to, I was really interested to see how they handled it. Unfortunately we may never know.

Tuesdays

Ringer (9pm CW)
This is one of the saddest hings I've typed. I was psyched for the premiere and raced home for the second episode, I was beyond excited to have Buffy Summers and Richard Alpert once again gracing my screen. Yet now after three episodes, I've realized I don't really care about the story. It's not a bad show, it just seems to be moving fairly slowly, and I don't really care about the characters themselves.I'm going to stick with it or awhile but sad to say when the mid season replacements start up, I'll probably end up watching something else instead.

Wednesday

Revenge (10pm ABC)
This show was honestly a pleasant surprise. I wasn't sure how they were going to sustain this as a tv show, as opposed to a movie, but, at least for now, it seems to be working quite nicely. More importantly, I actually "care" about the characters. I want to befriend Nolan, console Jack about his father, and while I'm not 100% sure how I feel about Victoria, I know that I want to know more about her.

American Horror Story (10pm FX)
We're only one episode in and honestly I am still in WTF mode. I'm not giving up on it just yet, but honestly the jury is still out on whether or not it's being added to my regular schedule. 

Thursday

Person of Interest (9pm CBS)
I still need to catch up but I'm gonna stick with it, because let's face it Ben Linus always has a plan.

Revenge: AKA: Shouldn't This be a Movie?

 So it took me a little while to get to it, but I finally sat down to watch ABC's new show Revenge. I'll admit when I first heard about the show's premise I couldn't help but think that maybe this would make a better movie than a tv show, especially since the show opened with the death of what looks to be a major character's death.

The show opens with a voice over clearly telling us that this is NOT a show about forgiveness. Emily/Amanda has returned to the Hamptons to enact revenge upon the people who ruined her father, causing him to be convicted of treason. 

I didn't quite understand the whole her coming out of jail scene, seemed to be laying it on a bit thick. I do find it interesting that her father asked her to forgive. Emily tells us that she is doing this for her father, that everything she has become is to avenge her father's disgrace, and yet she is knowingly going against his dying wishes. So really, isn't she only doing this for herself, and using her father as a justification to her actions?

The scenery is quite beautiful, and I'll admit, being that I grew up on Long Island, I'm sort of a sucker for stories set there. The costumes were beautiful, really showcasing the wealth and elegance that is the Hamptons' elite. Let's also not forget to mention that the cast is made up of several gorgeous people.

I'm willing to give Revenge another shot, to see how/if they can carry this premise out for more than a few episodes before it gets stale, not to mention how they carry it out beyond a season.
